III Workshop on Micropaleoethnobotany
RELEVANCE OF AN INTERDISCIPLINARY NETWORK OF RESEARCH IN PHYTOLITHS AND STARCHES
This event will bring together researchers, students and professionals from various areas to discuss the latest trends and advances in phytolith and starch studies in Latin America. The Workshop will take place from March 17 to 21, 2025 at the State University of Western Paraná, Marechal Cândido Rondon Campus, State of Paraná (Brazil).
Don’t miss this opportunity to:
- Present your work and exchange experiences with other researchers.
- Participate in mini-courses and workshops on phytolith and starch analysis techniques.
- Discuss the challenges and perspectives of micropaleoethnobotany.
- Learn about the most recent technological advances in the area.
- Participate in field activities in Western Paraná.
Registration and submission of papers:
- Registration will be open from December 1, 2024.
- The deadline for the submission of abstracts is February 1, 2025.
The presentation of papers will be in poster format only. The papers may be related to any of the topics of the discussion tables that we will have at the event:
- Table 1: Sampling methods, phytolith extraction, processing and conservation of plants, soils and materials.
- Table 2: Methods of systematization and classification of plant microfossils.
- Table 3: Good practice protocols, development and impact on the advancement of the discipline (including aspects of taphonomy, open phytolith, use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), paleo studies, etc.)
The abstracts must have a maximum of 300 words and include the list of authors, affiliation of the authors and 4 to 6 keywords. Abstract submissions are limited to two poster presentations per first presenting author.
Abstracts will be accepted in Portuguese and Spanish.
