FAIR Phytolith Project starting and Community Survey
Announcement of FAIR Phytoliths project and community survey
We are happy to announce that the FAIR Phytoliths project has been successful in gaining funding through the European Open Science Cloud Digital Life Science Call.
FAIR stands for Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (Wilkinson et al. 2016) and it is the aim of this project to improve the FAIRness of phytolith data.
We will be taking substantial steps towards this aim by conducting a FAIR assessment of existing phytolith data, capturing current data sharing practices and opinions through a community survey and suggesting guidelines for future FAIR data.
We want to hear from and work with as many phytolith researchers as possible so we can collectively improve data sharing for more sustainable and open phytolith research.
There are several ways that you can get involved in this project:

Community Survey
The community survey is in two parts. Part 1 is the main survey and is completely anonymous. We hope a large proportion of phytolith researchers will answer this part, so please do pass on this information to your colleagues.
Part 2 can be accessed at the end of Part 1 or separately and allows you to express an interest in our project and therefore asks for contact details. This is an optional extra but we would love to hear from you and have you get involved!
