Unknown from Neolithic China

Hello all,
Does anyone have any idea what these might be? They are from a Neolithic (specifically Yangshao) amphora in China. The patterning is superficially like rice husks, but the zig-zag pattern seems to circle a central point, rather than remaining in a consistent direction. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
